As you may recognize my website is running on WordPress. Since using WP I was a little bit unhappy with the on-board media management which also can be used to create some kind of photo galleries.
In the beginning I thought simply adding a lightbox effect would be OK, but at the end also using the much more powerful NextCellent Gallery Plugin/ module was more pain than a good solution.
Finally I think I will replace all this stuff with a standalone Piwigo Gallery, which I already installed on my common application server. Currently I am setting up the required configuration, layout and I already tested the required WP extensions to link the content into the WP pages/ blog posts.
So I think within the next days I will publish my first few gallery pictures out of Piwigo. Biggest benefit is that Piwigo can also manage the meta data quite nicely and enables all users to browse through the gallery and the pictures I took very efficiently.
